Information you provide
- Account details: name, age, email address, and phone number used for verification.
- Profile content: photos, written prompts, and your answers to profile questions — including lifestyle, cultural, and preference information you choose to share (such as languages, diet, and interests).
- Preferences: your non-negotiables, filter settings, and importance weights. These are used for matching and are never shown to other users.
- Messages: the content of conversations you have with matches, used to operate the chat feature and to investigate safety reports.
Information collected automatically
- Location: approximate location, used to show you people near you and to enforce our launch-area availability. You can limit this in your device settings, though matching requires a general area.
- Device and usage: device type, operating system, app version, and diagnostic logs used to keep the app working and secure.
How we use your information
- To create and maintain your account and profile.
- To compute compatibility scores and show you potential matches.
- To operate messaging, notifications, and safety features (reporting, blocking, content review).
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or for cross-site tracking. We also do not use your personal information to train third-party AI models.
Sharing
We share information only as needed to run the service: with infrastructure providers that host our systems (bound by confidentiality obligations), and with law enforcement when required by law or to protect safety. If Enso Labs LLC is involved in a merger or acquisition, your information may transfer as part of that transaction, and we will notify you.
Your choices and rights
- Access and correction: view and edit your profile information in the app at any time.
- Deletion: delete your account and data as described on our data deletion page, or email [email protected]. If we decline a privacy request, you may appeal by replying to our response.
- Location: control location access in your device settings.
- Notifications: control push notifications in the app or your device settings.
Data retention
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, photos, and messages within 30 days, except for limited records we must keep for safety, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Akane is for adults 18 and older only. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we will delete it if we learn of it. Our app stores enforce age gating at download.
International transfers
Our infrastructure providers may process information in other countries. Where data crosses borders, we take appropriate steps to keep it protected.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will post the new version here with a revised date, and for material changes we will notify you in the app.
